Working on groundbreaking research? Inspired to change society for the better? Want to remind the world what Israel truly has to offer? Apply now to Falling Walls Lab Israel Academy!
At
Falling Walls labs, students and early-career researchers present their idea for a better world through a three-minute pitch in English.
The winner from the Israel Academy lab (taking place on July 3rd, 2025) gets an expenses-paid trip to Berlin in November, where they’ll join the brightest minds from around the world, participate in a host of networking opportunities and workshops and have the chance to win a cash prize. The event offers an unparalleled stage to
showcase your research, ideas and projects to a global audience of experts, investors and peers.
If you have a ground-breaking idea or research project that you think deserves to be shared with the world, be sure to visit the

Last Year’s Winner: Netanel Loyfer – Breaking the Wall of Cell-Free DNA
In 2024, the Israeli winner reached an outstanding achievement, securing
third place in the global finals in Germany
This remarkable accomplishment highlights the cutting-edge ideas emerging from Israel and reinforces the impact of our scientists on the international stage.
Netanel Loyfer aims to detect cell death in distant tissues non-invasively by analyzing DNA methylation patterns in circulating cell-free DNA. Using a reference atlas, the tissue origin and quantity of these fragments are identified. This approach helps build an epigenetics platform for precision medicine, enhancing diagnostics through a detailed map of methylation signatures and a deconvolution algorithm for blood sample analysis.
